The Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is a multi-functional cookware that works wonders with slow-cooking recipes. This is a skillet with a deep sense of culinary art. Great for recipes requiring a little more room. Ensure a crispy texture to deep-fried foods, sear meats, simmer soups or cook casseroles without splatters. This deep skillet adds authentic country style flavor and golden browning to breads, rolls and desserts. Made of cast iron, this Skillet evenly distributes heat from the bottom through the sidewalls. Also, it retains heat better so your delicious meal remains warm for a long time. Sporting a stylish black color, the cast iron Skillet looks good in most kitchens and it doubles up as an excellent source of nutritional iron. A simple Cast-Iron skillet, like the one your grandmother used, still ranks as one of the best cooking utensils ever made. It gives you a nearly non-stick surface, without the possible harmful fumes generated by preheating chemically treated nonstick cookware.

Excellent skillet for many uses. You can call me a Lodge fan-atic. I own more then two dozen of their cast iron cookware and I actually use them all in rotation. Thru the years, I also found a good way to really season them to rival the best non-sticks out there (of course, cast iron is best since iron is not harmful unlike the chemical filled non-sticks). After I have a BBQ on charcoals, I use the embers to season my Lodge by rubbing oil all throughout inside and placing the pan on grill (with embers below) for about twenty…
If I can only have 1, this would be it. If I had to have just one cast iron skillet this would be it. This holds a whole 8 lb cut up chicken with no sweat. I also got the 10.25 inch lid so I could fry away without worry. A glass lid from my previous skillet set also fits and I enjoy the ability to see the food through the glass. This pan has extra depth. I’ve not found this to be any problem at all. I cook up a pound of hamburger just as well and fast as the shallow skillet but I can chop and stir with vigor without tossing food…
