USE & CARE:
When preparing to use your cast iron, please note it material is refined iron and does come pre-seasoned.
Before first use, rinse the skillet with hot water and dry thoroughly. Do NOT use soap or detergent. For best results, using medium heat and apply a small amount of vegetable oil to the cookware’s cooking surface before each use.
Use heat-resistant silicone, plastic, or wooden utensils only (Avoid metal).
After cooking, clean the cookware using a stiff brush and hot water, then rinse and towel dry. After hand washing, towel dries immediately and apply a light coat of oil to the cooking surface while the cookware is still warm (to prevent rusting).
NOTE: Do NOT use soap or dishwasher with the pan set.

The Lodge Cast Iron 5-inch square Skillet is wonderful for cooking individual eggs or other small dishes. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching. It retains heat well so you can sear meat at higher temperatures and will keep your delicious meals warm for a long time. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, theses virtually indestructible cookware should last for generations. Made of cast iron, this Skillet evenly distributes heat from the bottom through the sidewalls. Sporting a stylish black color, the cast iron Skillet looks good in most kitchens and it doubles up as an excellent source of nutritional iron. This pre-seasoned skillet is ready-to-use right out of the box. While the skillet comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. The Lodge seasoning procedure is a multiple-step process in which the seasoning oil is applied via an electrostatic spray system that coats the cookware, then it’s baked in commercial ovens at very high temperatures. Notes:
-A seasoned skillet is smooth, shiny, and nonstick. You’ll know it’s time to re-season if food sticks to the surface or if the skillet appears dull or rusted.
-Using soap, steel wool, or other abrasives is not the end of the world, but you may need to re-season the skillet. If the skillet is well-seasoned from years of use, a small amount of mild soap may be used without doing much damage,
just be sure to rinse it well and oil it after drying.
-Remove rust from cast iron by using steel wool or by rubbing it with half a raw potato and a sprinkle of baking soda. Again, it may be necessary to re-season the pan after cleaning.
-It might be too heavy to pick up so please be very careful when you’re trying to pick the cast iron skillet up to avoid getting injured.
